The 10 Healthiest (and Unhealthiest) Fast Food Sandwiches in America

The 10 Healthiest (and Unhealthiest) Fast Food Sandwiches in America

One of the most effective ways to manage your weight and health is to eat a nutritious diet with whole foods.

But even as you build healthy eating habits, you may find yourself in need of a quick meal when you're on a tight schedule.

Fast food restaurants may not always have the most nutritious options (most fast food is considered ultraprocessed, which typically leaves you feeling less full), but if you're looking for a sandwich on the healthier side, focus on menu items that are high in protein and low in trans fat, net carbs, and calories.

Key Findings

  • The healthiest fast food sandwich is the Sourdough Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich from Jack in the Box.
  • The unhealthiest sandwich is the Big Fish from Burger King, primarily because of a relatively low protein content and high carb content.
  • Firehouse Subs and Chick-fil-A each hold three of the top 10 healthiest sandwiches.
  • Four Burger King sandwiches show up on the unhealthiest list.
  • Top-ranking healthy sandwiches included chicken or turkey rather than burgers, providing a good source of protein without too many calories that may help support a weight loss journey.
  • Grilled chicken sandwiches were more likely to appear on the healthy list, while more fried chicken options were on the unhealthy list.

Next, Health Train Express will cover the final ingredient to good health, SLEEP.

RFK Jr. orders 10,000 HHS job cuts in major health agency shakeup

Massive changes are coming to HHS, CMS, CDC, and NIH

All federal government health programs will be overcome by reducing the workforce with DOGE efforts to reduce inefficiency and alleged fraud.  Most of these political appointees know little about healthcare.

This represents a 25% reduction in the workforce.

The agency announced the restructuring plans on Thursday as part of broader Trump administration efforts to reduce the federal workforce and cut costs. HHS claimed that laying off 10,000 federal workers across its divisions would save $1.8 billion and “serve multiple goals without impacting critical services.”

Combined with other Trump administration efforts, including early retirement and buyout offers, roughly 20,000 people will leave the health department, HHS said. The department will go from 82,000 workers to 62,000, a reduction of almost 25%.

This comes at a time when artificial intelligence is incorporated into the daily operations of these federal agencies.

Not all this disruptive change is bad.  With change comes enormous opportunities to those are forward thinkers.  New entrepreneurs will benefit from the possibility of profiting with the change.  The enemy of this change are those embedded in the old institutional paradigm. Change rarely comes from within.  Perhaps DOGE gives us the new opportunity for improvement.
